Classically trained in violin, Dmitriy was born and raised in Russia. After moving to the United States, he earned his music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where he performed in numerous New York orchestras and chamber groups. Dmitriy now resides in Denver, Colorado and performs swing and gypsy jazz with Gypsy Swing Revue.
